On November 18, 2025, the Steel Community Day took place at the Welser Profile Meeting Center – a new event focused on the future and transformation of the steel industry.
Around 160 participants from the Welser Profile network, including partner companies, customers, suppliers, and political and business decision-makers came together to share ideas for a sustainable and digital future.
The program included inspiring presentations and discussions. Top speakers such as Dr. Susanna Zapreva (Member of the Executive Board of Verbund AG & Supervisory Board of Salzgitter AG), Erika Mink-Zaghloul (Head of Governmental & Regulatory Affairs thyssenkrupp Steel AG), Wolfgang Mitterdorfer (Management Board, voestalpine Steel Division), and Niklas Wass (Head of Operations, Stegra), provided practical insights into the latest developments in steel, the environment, and digitalization.

Thomas Welser and steel blogger Heinz-Peter Pülzl led interactive panels that explored the industry’s transformation from different angles. They also examined new ways to communicate and do business through social media.

In the afternoon, participants joined smaller discussion groups to deepen their knowledge and gain fresh ideas. Moderator Christian Clerici created a dynamic atmosphere, while musician Dan Reed added a special touch by performing songs such as “Stronger than Steel” and “Brave New World.” Networking continued at the after-show event, where many new sustainable ideas were born.
