In 2000, ground was broken for the new production center in Bönen. Since then, Welser Profile Germany has been continuously expanded.
In the late 1990s, Wolfgang Welser, then Managing Director of Welser Profile, was looking for ways to increase production capacity while ensuring proximity to key raw material suppliers. To achieve this, two existing facilities near Bönen were acquired. The location offered an excellent logistical advantage, particularly for customers in Northern and Western Europe.
Construction of the current production plant on Edisonstraße began in 2000, and just one year later, on October 30, 2001, the first special profile rolled off the line. A lot has happened since then: new halls, modern logistics areas, and investments in automation and digitalization have made Bönen a strong plant within the group. Today, the location covers nearly 300,000 m²—roughly the size of 42 soccer fields. More than 850 employees, including about 80 apprentices in five different metalworking trades, are now part of Welser Profile Germany.
This success story deserved a proper celebration. A series of large and small events kicked off in January with an invitation to enjoy birthday cake. In April, the event “Our Roots,” featuring retirees and long-standing employees, marked a successful continuation.
A special highlight was the interview with Wolfgang Welser, along with stories from colleagues about their defining moments at the company.
Under the motto “Connecting Generations,” around 130 participants from various departments came together in May. Together with three generations of the Welser family, they explored Welser values and the transformation journey—literally building bridges along the way.
The absolute highlight, however, was the closing event with the Welser family, all employees and their companions, retirees, and external partners.
The stage program reflected the milestones of the past 25 years and allowed guests to reminisce. Emotions ran high when Wolfgang Welser was honored with a standing ovation. The appreciation and pride in this shared success story were palpable in that moment.
Our anniversary event was not only a celebration of the past 25 years but also a glimpse into the future. It showed the strong sense of unity within the company and the deep appreciation for the people behind its success. With a perfect blend of emotion, entertainment, and enjoyment, this evening will remain a lasting memory for everyone involved.
